CCI RFOU 8.7/15kV cables are robust, medium voltage (MV) power cable designed for fixed installations in Oil & Gas (Onshore & Offshore), Subsea, Marine & Shipbuilding, and Renewable Energy environments. Classified under the rigorous Norwegian standard NEK606 P104, these cables meet specific technical requirements for safety and performance in hazardous areas.

The letters RFOU are a cable code designation from the Norwegian standard NEK 606 used for offshore marine cables, specifying their construction and properties. 

The meaning of each letter is:

  • R: Halogen-free Rubber (specifically Ethylene Propylene Rubber, or EPR) used for insulation.
  • F: Halogen-free inner covering/filling compound.
  • O: Tinned copper wire braid used for armour.
  • U: Halogen-free, flame-retardant, mud-resistant, thermoset compound.

Key construction elements include tinned annealed stranded copper conductors (Class 2) for flexibility, semi-conductive layers for insulation screening, and a tinned copper wire braid armour for mechanical protection and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Furthermore, the low smoke, zero halogen (LSZH) materials ensure low smoke density (IEC 61034-1 & 2) and meet strict criteria for halogen content & corrosivity (IEC 60754-1 & 2 and IEC 60684-2), protecting personnel and equipment in fire scenarios.
  • Superior Environmental Resistance: Designed for harsh marine conditions, these cables provide excellent UV resistance (tested to UL1581:1200) and ozone resistance (IEC 60092-360). They are highly resistant to mineral / hydraulic oils and muds resist as required by NEK 606.
  • Durability and Longevity: The robust construction ensures high impact & cold resistance guaranteeing uninterrupted power and signals in extreme conditions where durability is paramount. (Certified to CSA C 22.2 N° 0.3-09 & N° 38-18 upon request).
  • Operational Reliability: A 90°C temperature rating (according to IEC 60092-360) means the cable performs reliably under high electrical load and in high-temperature environments. Operation (not subject to further movement/vibration etc. -40deg C, with handling at -25deg C.
